Once upon a time....

There lived an extremely talented blonde princess named Bianca (pictured above) who had a burning desire to gather together all her royal friends and family and host fancy bazaar in the town square.

Well...low and behold, come to find out the gorgeous Princess Cadie (pictured above) who ruled the land next door had the EXACT same burning desire. So, knowing that TWO fabulous princesses is much better than one, the two decided to join their royal crowns together. The results... a beautiful friendship and the most popular bazaar around called
Sassy Mei.

After a handful of successful bazaars they came upon one of the smartest princesses known to any royal village. Her name was Princess Sommer (pictured above) and she knew EVERYTHING. Princess Bianca and Princess Cadie knew they had to have her so they offered her the tallest tiara they could find and she said YES! How could she turn down a tiara?!

Speaking of tiaras... Princess Jo Dee (Pictured above), the sassiest princess of all, happened to be selling her goods at one of the bazaars. Before she could blink her eyes, Princess Bianca and Princess Cadie wrestled Princess Jo Dee to the ground, stole her glass slippers and begged her to be the royal blogger. She agreed but only on the terms of weekly toilet cleaning by Princess Cadie's and Princess Bianca's servants!

So...
what started out as a small idea three years ago this month, has blossomed into an amazing business venture for Princess Bianca and Princess Cadie. Both princess are tickled pink with their successes and look forward to many more adventures ahead!

"The most important thing in life is to learn how to give out LOVE."

Yesterday we had our first mini Sassy Mei boutique. It was held in a beautiful assisted living home in Gig Harbor filled with delightful ladies and gents in their "golden years." While I was there something came to mind that I had never thought about before. Being alone on Valentine's Day. We all know someone, somewhere who is alone. It may be a neighbor next door who's husband is in Iraq or the lady at church who sits alone three rows ahead. This year (on Monday) let us find someone to share the gift of LOVE with. It can be as simple as a homemade card or as fancy as a bouquet of tulips. Keep it simple, keep it sweet, keep it doable. I know we all live very busy lives but, I also know that loving and serving others makes us happier people. So let's do it! I challenge us all to open up our circles of LOVE on Valentine's day for just a moment and share.

IDEA: Cut out paper hearts and tape on a neighbor's front door. Ring the doorbell and run for your life so that they won't know who did it. Quick, easy and a lot of fun!

Breakfast In Bed

Get it? "Breakfast in bed"~stupid I know but I couldn't resist.

Breakfast in bed is usually reserved for the more (or most) important Holiday such as Mother's Day. But, who says you can't make this a Valentine's Day tradition? My Children beg me to give them breakfast in bed. Honestly, THIS is how I really feel about breakfast in bed but this year I'm gonna grant their request. Next year however...we'll see!:)

IDEA: Pick up some cute red or pink dishes (Target has darling heart shaped plates) and feed your loved ones breakfast in bed. They'll be sure to LOVE you! And you're gonna love THESE. So stinkin' cute!

Buttermilk Waffles

The BEST waffles in the whole wide world.

Seriously people...the BEST!

1 3/4 C. flour

2 t. baking powder

1/2 .t baking soda

1/2 t. salt

2 eggs, separated

2 1/4 C. buttermilk

1/2 C. oil

In a bowl beat the egg whites with an electric mixer until stiff. Set aside. In a large bowl, beat the egg yolks with a fork. Whisk in buttermilk and oil. Add dry ingredients and stir just until large lumps disappear. Fold in the egg whites.

Pure waffle bliss! Enjoy!

Do you like cake? Ya, me too. Do you like red velvet cake? Yep, me too again. So I shall share a secret family recipe. Shhh...don't tell anyone!

The BEST ever RED Velvet Cake!

Now for the BEST ever icing for the cake:

Cream Cheese Frosting
1/2 cup butter, softened
8 ounces cream cheese, softened
4 cups confectioners' sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla extract

In a medium bowl, combine butter, cream cheese, confectioners' sugar and 1 teaspoon vanilla. Beat until the mixture is smooth and creamy. Frost the cooled cake.

Chocolate Covered Yummies

Have you ever made chocolate covered cherries before? They are SO quick and easy to make. And trust me...when I say quick and easy it's quick and easy! Melt choco. chips in the microwave in 30 sec. intervals. Stir after each interval and continue to microwave until the chips have melted and are smooth in texture. Then, dip STEMMED maraschino cherries (I like the ones from Costco best) in chocolate. Sprinkle with {THESE} little darlings to add some Valentine LOVE. And if you really want to get fancy wrap 2-3 in {THESE} cuties to give away. Totally affordble, totally impressive and all your girly friends will be jealous of your mad choco. dipping skills!:D These make perfect teacher gifts! Dip away!

Oh the beauty of a handwritten letter~an almost lost art. How sad it is that the majority of our I LOVE YOU's now days come in a technology format versus an actual labor of love.

And although an I LOVE YOU is still an I LOVE YOU regardless of format, I believe the handwritten I LOVE YOU is priceless!

Assignment: Go grab a sticky note and write a simple love note. Your teenage daughter may roll her eyes at it but you know deep down it will mean the world to her.

It comes to us from one of our fabulous vendors~LeAnn with LeAnn Design's.

Put the kids to bed and have a late night dinner with your sweet heart! Call in your order at your favorite restaurant (we love to do Olive Garden), send your honey to pick up the meal. While you get the kids in bed and set the table for two (get out your china you never use and don’t forget the candles). It’s great… you don’t have to pay for a babysitter and you don’t have to wait in line for a table!

Darn Good Chocolate Cake

1 pkg. plain devil's food or dark chocolate fudge cake mix
1 pkg. (3.9 oz) chocolate instant pudding mix
4 large eggs
1 c. sour cream
1/2 c. warm water
1/2 c. vegetable oil (canola, corn, safflower,soybean or sunflower)
1 1/2 c. semisweet chocolate chips

Preheat oven to 350. Lightly mist a 12-cup bundt pan with vegetable oil spray, then dust with flour. Shake out the excess flour. Set the pan aside. Place the cake mix, pudding mix, eggs, sour cream, warm water and oil in a large mixing bowl. Blend with an electric mixer on low speed for 1 minute. Increase the mixer speed to medium and beat 2-3 minutes more. The batter should look thick and well combined. Fold in the chocolate chips, making sure they are will distributed throughout the batter.
Pour the batter into the prepared pan, smoothing it out with the rubber spatula. Place the pan in the oven. Bake the cake until it springs back when lightly pressed with your finger and just starts to pull away from the sides of the pan, 45-50 minutes. Remove the pan from the oven and place it on a wire rack to cool for 20 minutes. Run a long, sharp knife around the edge of the cake and invert it onto the rack to cool completely, 20 minutes more. Or invert it onto a serving platter to slice and serve while still warm.
I have made them into cupcakes and they are great that way as well. I just follow the heating and timing directions on the cake mix.

IDEA: The LOVE Box

Purchase a mini mailbox (or you can purchase a mini mailbox craft kit at Michael's and have your kiddos decorate it). Everyday leading up to the big day of LOVE leave little messages and/or treats and toys for your loved ones. I have been doing this for my kids for several years now. At our house "Mr. Valentine" visits on day 14 with small gifts of LOVE for everyone.

1 bag milk choco. chips

1/4 C. evaporated milk

2 T. butter

3 cups mini marshmallows

Put all ingredients in a bowl and microwave in one minute intervals.

The best part...it can be reheated and reheated and reheated over again!

We realize that many of you had several difficulties finding our host home. We had several signs posted but they were all taken down by the city of Maple Valley. We play a tricky game with them and will re-post the signs tomorrow. In the mean time, DO NOT USE Map Quest or a GPS system to find this house...you will get lost.

Directions from HWY 18 either direction:

Take the Kent Kangley, 272nd exit (Costco) travel east on 272nd for approximately 5 miles. Turn right onto 216th Ave SE (Chevron/Sawyer Village) go approximately 1 mile down the road and take a LEFT onto 288th. Travel to near the end of 288th, approximatley 2 miles and take your last left onto 240th. Follow the signs to the home. We are the first LEFT in the neighborhood, last house on the RIGHT.

FROM 1-5 either direction
Find your way to HWY 18 or HWY 169, exit #4 off of 405

From HWY 169
Travel approximately 11 miles down HWY 169, into and through Maple Valley. PASS 4 Corners, PASS 280th Ave SE. You will be heading toward Black Diamond. Take a right onto 288th...this is just past the Window and Door outlet (on left) head up the hill on 288th. Take your first RIGHT into 240th. There will be signs guiding you to the home. Once in the neighborhood, take your first left, we are the last house on the right.

How did you get started? In 2009 Suzy Gillies founded African Promise Foundation. After traveling to Northern Uganda she saw a need to help women find sustainable income. The beads are purchased from the women at a fair price and the profits from the sold beads in the US go back to Uganda to help orphans and disadvantaged children in the region.

What inspires you? When you wear the beads and think about where they came from you can't help but feel connected to a women on the other side of the world. Although circumstances are extremely different, all women are similar in that they want to provide for and care for their children. Wearing the beads makes me think of these women and their difficulties and reminds me to count my blessings.

Let me help you get to know today's vendor a little better. The Boss of The Paper Bakery, Anita Kaulzarich, is a mother of two and has turned into somewhat of a local celebrity with her 1.5 year old business. What exactly does she do? I'll tell you. She takes ordinary paper boxes and turns them into extraordinary paper cakes which, most commonly, can be used as party favors. THEN...each individual "piece" of cake can be filled wonderful little treats.

So CUTE. So CLEVER.

You won't want to miss her display at the show. And...If you're nice to "The Paper Cake Boss" she might even give you a sample of decedent chocolate.

Todd is a local GEM that can honestly do or fix anything from plumbing and electrical to a full house remodel (their cute slogan is "large or small, we fix them all!) We had a dishwasher plumbing nightmare that 3 previous handymen could not fix. We called Todd and he had it running in no time flat. He was quick to respond, honest and had extremely reasonable rates. Give your husband a break and give Mr. Fix It All a call!

She is a master of the fondant technique (not an easy technique people!) and also makes cupcakes, cake pops (pic. above~CUTE!), and cookies. Need a pep in your step while shopping at the boutique?
